Tours & Activities at Atlantis Dumaguete

Dumaguete has a wealth of places to explore; spend the morning shopping at a local market and experiencing the the local culture. Try a city tour, or enjoy a day in the mountains and take in the lush tropical countryside, natural pools and waterfalls. Dumaguete also has golf courses, a modern mall or local shops to buy souvenirs from. For those wishing to just take it easy take a look at our Spa pages and indulge yourself.

Daytrip to Apo Island

Apo Island is our most popular day trip. Visit world Famous Apo Island for three great dives and a beach BBQ. Apo Island is know as one of the great conservation success stories in the Philippines. During the seventies, after extensive coral damage, the area was set aside as a protected reserve; one of the first in the Philippines. After 40 years guarded by the local islanders, the island has blossomed into one of the top dive sites in the Philippines. Sea turtles of several varieties, along with many varieties of both hard and soft corals, as well as humongous fields of table corals await. Don’t miss these great dives!

Daytrip to Oslob Whale Sharks

Started as an innocent interaction between local fishermen and the Whale sharks, this snorkel trip has become world famous. Local shrimp fishermen use to clean their catch early in the morning offshore and the cull attracted Whale sharks. After developing a friendship, the fishermen would offer the Whale sharks a handful of shrimp. While the 150 some odd Whale sharks documented migrate around the Philippines, they tend to drop by in small groups so there are almost always six or seven at an average interaction. One of our most popular trips.

Dumaguete City Tours

Thirty minutes from the resort, has the power to charm visitors with its friendly and hospitable people. On the tour, you can see:

Malatapay Market

Drive 20 minutes south and you are in Malatapay, home of the only open‐air market in Negros. Experience the traditional Philippine “barter” system. The locals from Apo Island and the surrounding mountains eagerly trade livestock, fish, exotic fruits, strange vegetables and household items. Sample some lechon baboy (roast pork) and enjoy a cold San Miguel beer while sitting on the beach. The market operates on Wednesdays.

Twin Lakes

Balinsasayao and Danao, are a haven of pristine flora and fauna. There are two routes to the Twin Lakes that are accessible only with 4X4 vehicles and dirt bikes. On the way, you’ll be greeted by the accommodating natives, who are active and instrumental in protecting the lake against exploitation. While here, you can go kayaking on the clear waters. As you paddle quietly around the sparkling lake, you’ll see and hear many wild birds; go fishing with lines and hooks for tilapia and carp in the lake and mountain climbing to get an aerial view of the Twin Lakes, which are only separated by a narrow ridge.

In these surrounding forests you’ll see rare flowers, orchids, and birds. Stay overnight – either in the cottage or in tents.

Quad Bike Tour

Take a three hour tour quadbiking, walking and visiting the natural hot springs in Baslay. The trip starts with a 10 minute drive from the resort to the ATV shop and an orientation to the bikes and safety procedures. The 45 to 60 minute initial ride heads up through the lush tropical jungle, with plenty of birds and jungle flowers, to the hot pools about 12 kilometers (7 miles) from the main road. Relax for half an hour, then climb down the 240 steps to a naturally formed hot sulfur spring and waterfalls. Local snacks and the refreshing local buko juice (young coconut) are available. After the break, climb back up to the ATVs for the ride down, enjoying a clear view of both Apo and Siquijor Islands, and the Dumaguete coastline on the way. Four ATVs available only. Maximum number of guests is 8 – four drivers plus four passengers.

Bird Watching

Bird watcher? Or looking for something different to do? This full day trip combines some of the most scenic areas in Dumaguete with the services of a tour guide and bird watcher. At Twin Lakes look for birds including the Olive‐backed sunbird, Crimson sunbird, Flaming sunbird, Yellowish white‐eyed sunbird, Orange‐bellied flowerpecker, Coleto, Visayan flowerpecker, Blue‐headed fantail, Elegant tit, Balicassiao, Black‐naped oriole, Visayan bulbul, Spotted wood kingfisher, White‐throated kingfisher and more.

Philippine tailorbird, Bar‐bellied cuckoo shrike, White‐winged cuckoo shrike, Emerald dove, White‐earred brown dove, Visayan tarictic hornbill, Crested serpent eagle and Brahminy kite and more.
