The Atlantis Dive Resorts in the Philippine communities of Puerto Galera and Dumaguete are well known in the diving community for the astonishing variety of creatures that divers encounter when diving locally and exploring the waters of the nearby islands of Verde and Apo. The island nation of the Philippines lies in the heart of the Coral Triangle, a name derived from almost 600 species of reef-building corals that can be found in the region. The Coral Triangle is the region that is roughly bounded by the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Timor Leste and the Solomon Islands. In addition, more than 2,000 species of fishes and six of the world’s seven species of marine turtles are seen in the Coral Triangle.
This video shares a selection of animals I was able to photograph during my first two trips to both Atlantis Puerto Galera and Atlantis Dumaguete. I hope you enjoy it!
